Tokayev directed to increase the irrigated production area up to 2 mln. hectares by 2022

April 2nd. INTERFAX-KAZAKHSTAN - President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Zhomart Tokayev met with the Minister of Agriculture Saparkhan Omarov, according to press-services of the head of state.

The results of activity and plans of the Ministry for the nearest future were reported to the Head of State.

President paid attention to the importance of quality implementation of the tasks of the Ministry on the development of labor productivity in the agricultural complex and export of processed products.

K.Tokayev directed to increase the rate of equipment renewal from 2 to 6% and irrigated production area from 1.4 to 2 mln. hectares by 2022, as well as to use precision agriculture practices, diversification of crop production areas, increase the quality of seeds, application of fertilizers and crop protection agents.

Besides, the Head of State commissioned to continue working on the introduction of advanced technologies for breeding and pedigree transformation of cattle, creation of family livestock farms, and expansion of grassland territories.
